About 24 illnesses being investigated by federal officials may be related to the recall by JBS Swift Beef Co. in Colorado, United States Department of Agriculture said.
The beef was processed on April 21 and sent to grocery stores and other retailers in early May. Most was packaged as sirloin steaks and beef tips, although some stores may have made some into ground sirloin. Most is believed to have been sold already.
Consumers probably cannot identify the affected products because most was repackaged at the store, officials said. Those concerned should contact supermarkets directly. It's unknown how much came to Florida. Publix Supermarkets said it does not buy beef from Swift.
